Q & A with "Irish" Mike Lee
“Irish” Mike Lee- “Fan's will see a new me”
Q and A with Bill Green
Undefeated Light Heavyweight and former Subway boxing phenomenon “Irish” Mike Lee 16- 0 (10) returns this Friday, June 3 on Dibella Entertainment's Broadway Boxing Series at the Resorts World Casino, located in New York City, NY. The main event will feature former lightweight world champion Richar Abril 19-3- 1 (8) vs Jerry Belmontes 21-8 (6) in a 10 rd Junior Welterweight match up.
BG: I recently talked to the undefeated and popular light heavyweight contender literally moments before he tipped the scales.
BG: Hello Mike, how are things. We really appreciated you fighting on our card last year back in Omaha. People are still talking about that KO.
Lee: Thanks BG, we had a great time there and we definitely loved our stay out in Nebraska.
BG: Let's get the few obvious questions out of the way, How was camp and are you still located in California.
Lee: Yes, I'm still in California. The climate is perfect as is the training. We had unbelievable sparring in Hugo Centeno Jr 24-0 (12) and a few others. I feel very strong, well conditioned and the speed is definitely a weapon.
BG: You are back in New York, how was your last experience, oh and congrats on your TKO over Joe Gardner 11-8-1 (1).
Lee: Thank you. Ya, it was an unbelievable experience, fighting on a big card (Wilder vs Szpilka) at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn. I will say this, New Yorker's know there stuff and are great fight fans, that crowd was electric.
BG: Ya, no doubt. Barclays is really becoming a household name for boxing and offers a whole new look than the traditional big fights out in Vegas.
BG: I see that you are facing “Iron” Mike Snider 10-3-3 (5). Snider is very durable, strong and his only losses are to undefeated West Virginian Aaron Quattrocchi 9-0 (4) and 2012 Bronze Medalist Ukrainian power-puncher Oleksandr Gvozdak 10-0 (8).
Lee: Ya, he's supposed to be very tough. We are ready for this type of test, this is the next step, facing fighter's like Snider who can not only take a punch but who will present some problems. However, we are ready, we have been ready and stay ready. The gym and hard work will definitely speak for itself on Friday night.
BG: Every time I read or hear your name I continue to tell others what kind of a person you are not only inside of the ropes but outside of them. How are you charities going along with your Hollywood career?
Lee: Thank you for asking BG. Some of my proudest moments are making differences in young peoples lives. I continue to work with those that battle cancer..something that is way more difficult than what us athletes go through. I've been working with this one particular youth who will be ringside for tomorrow nights bout. Please check out Family Reach Foundation.
BG: Mike that is so you...that is super-classy. Thank you for being a role model for today's youth and giving back to all the programs that are in so much desire need right now.
Lee: Helping others just like boxing is what I'm passionate about, I truly hope to make good on my promise tomorrow night and put a smile on his face with a big explosive victory in his honor.
BG: One last question, what can fight fans expect when that bell rings tomorrow night? Thanks for the time champ, now you better make weight (laughter) and get something to eat.
Lee: Thanks once again BG for always reaching out, I feel like a whole new fighter, early in my career I was just a banger, I'm learning to box now, use angles, counter punch, and use a fighter's strengths and weaknesses against them. Fight fans can expect to see basically a “whole new me in there”.
You can catch Mike's fight along with the entire PPVcard on GoFightLive at www.gfl.tv for just $14.99 That's 14 bouts for just $14.99.....count me in.
